Getting There

By train: Peiting-Schongau station is served by the regional rail line from Munich Hauptbahnhof via Weilheim, operated by Bayerische Oberlandbahn (BOB). The journey takes around 75 minutes. Trains run roughly hourly throughout the day. The station sits between Peiting and Schongau, about a kilometre from Peiting's town centre.

By car: The B17, the road that follows the Romantic Road (Romantische Straße) corridor, runs through the area. From Munich, take the A95 motorway towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen, exit at Weilheim, then follow the B17 south. The drive from Munich is around 70–80 kilometres and takes just over an hour. Peiting is about 4km south of Schongau on the eastern bank of the Lech.

By long-distance bus: The Romantic Road Coach (EuroBus) runs seasonally between Frankfurt and Füssen along the B17, stopping at Schongau. This is a tourist-oriented service and runs once daily in each direction during the summer season; check current schedules as service details change year to year.
