On one of Berlin's most famous boulevards, Berlin Story is part bookstore, part crash course in the city's past. The shelves hold around 2,500 titles covering everything from Prussian history and the Third Reich to modern architecture and nightlife, with some 250 in English and many in other languages.
Beyond the books, palm-size maps trace where the Wall once stood, oversize posters capture Cold War scenes and expressionist film history, and a looping 25-minute film offers a whirlwind introduction to the city's dramatic arc. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
