1960s shopping tower with a giant water clock at Breitscheidplatz

Address Breitscheidplatz
Connections U+S Zoologischer Garten
Opening Hours open round the clock

A 22-storey shopping and entertainment complex built in the 1960s at Breitscheidplatz, right next to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. The centrepiece inside is the Mengenlehreuhr — a peculiar multi-tiered water clock from 1975 that tells time through bubbling coloured liquid. The building houses cafés, restaurants, and shops across multiple floors.

The top-floor observation deck (paid entry) gives a good view over western Berlin. U- and S-Bahn Zoologischer Garten is right outside.
