Volkspark Rehberge

Wooded Wedding park with deer enclosures, lakes and a summer open-air cinema

Laid out in the 1920s on former drifting sand dunes, this large landscaped park is Wedding's green lung — pine and birch woods, broad meadows, a couple of small lakes, and enclosures with deer and wild boar. It was designed as a workers' recreation ground for a dense and poor district, and it still serves exactly that purpose.

The open-air stage hosts a free summer cinema, and the Möwensee lake has a playground and lawns for sunbathing. It sees few tourists, which is rather the point: this is a local park, good for a long walk well away from the city-centre crowds.
