Getting Around

Darmstadt has a good tram network (HEAG Mobilo) covering the city centre and most of the suburbs. Trams run frequently and are the quickest way to get between the centre, the Mathildenhöhe, and the Waldspirale. The central stop is Luisenplatz, from which most lines radiate.

The city centre is compact enough to walk — the Marktplatz, the Landesmuseum, and the foot of the Mathildenhöhe hill are all within fifteen minutes of each other on foot. The Waldspirale requires tram line 9 or a bus. Cycling is popular, with bike-share stations at the main stations and along the main routes.
