Getting There by Plane

When looking for air fare prices on the web, it is a good idea to get started with the Frankfurt am Main International Airport (IATA airport code: FRA) not only because it is the largest airport in Germany but also because it houses dozens of local and international airlines that offer thousands of direct flights to and from Frankfurt.

Getting from the Airport to Rudesheim by Car

The Frankfurt am Main International Airport is a short 70-minute drive from Rudesheim heading west on the A60 highway and then taking the B42/A66 country roads.

Getting there by Train and Ferry

If you are already in German ground, you can take the train to Bingen and then you must get a ferry to cross over the river. If you are planning on taking the train and then the ferry there seems to be continuous construction going on at the dock area so watch your step and look where you are going. It it not recommended to travel alone late at night as it is a bit dark and desolate. You will have to walk a couple of miles in the dark which is unpleasant at the best of times.

The other passenger ferry is closer to the station but does not run as late as the vehicle ferry does. Make sure and check your times before you arrive at the ferry. If you do not mind paying the expense of a taxi then you can take one to Rudesheim . Depending on what area you are coming from expect to pay anywhere from 50 euro and up.
