Getting There

The ferry from Norddeich-Mole is the standard way to reach Juist. The crossing takes about 90 minutes and is operated by Reederei Frisia. The complication is that Juist has no deep-water harbour — the ferry can only sail to or from the island around high tide — so the daily timetable shifts with the tides. Check sailings before you set off and arrive at Norddeich with plenty of time; the ferry leaves on schedule.

Norddeich is reached by direct train from Bremen, Münster, and Hannover, with through cars from Cologne. The Norddeich-Mole station is at the ferry terminal itself. Cars can be left at the long-stay car park in Norddeich; no private vehicles are allowed onto Juist. Small aircraft also fly to Juist Airfield from Emden, Harle, and elsewhere on the coast.
