Neubrandenburg has a direct railway connection to Berlin (about 2 hours on InterCity services) and to Stralsund on the Baltic coast. The station is on the northern edge of the old town and within easy walking distance of the city wall. By road, the A20 motorway runs north-south through the region; the city is about 130 km north of Berlin.
Neubrandenburg Airport is small and has limited scheduled services; most visitors arrive by train.
