Getting There

By train: Stralsund has direct train connections to Berlin (about 2.5 hours) and Rostock (1 hour). Regional trains connect to Greifswald, Rostock, and across RĂ¼gen. The train station is a short walk from the old town.

By car: From Berlin, take the A20 autobahn toward Rostock and then east toward Stralsund. The journey is about 2.5 hours. From Hamburg, allow about 3 hours via the A20.

By ferry: There are no direct international ferry connections to Stralsund; the nearest major ferry port is Rostock, which connects to Gedser (Denmark) and Trelleborg (Sweden). From Stralsund, ferries run to Hiddensee.
