Eating Out

Aachen's restaurant scene reflects its position at the edge of three countries: German, Belgian, and Dutch culinary influences mix on most menus. The city's own contribution is Printen (gingerbread) and Reissweck (a bread roll eaten at New Year), but for full meals you are in the Rhineland tradition — hearty, meat-forward, and good value. The student population keeps prices reasonable and the area around the Pontstrasse has the densest concentration of options.
