Aachen Cathedral Concert Season

Concerts and organ recitals in one of the great Carolingian buildings of Europe

The Aachener Dom hosts a regular programme of concerts and organ recitals throughout the year, taking advantage of the remarkable acoustics of the Carolingian octagon and Gothic choir. The Domchor Aachen, which traces its origins to a choir founded by Charlemagne, performs major choral works several times a year. Organ recitals are held on the historic instrument — a large four-manual instrument incorporating pipes from across several centuries.

The summer concert series runs from June through August, with performances roughly every week. Advent and Christmas bring special concerts in the cathedral and the surrounding old town. Even attending a short evening concert is worth it for the experience of music in a space that has been used for religious ceremony for over 1,200 years.
