Moers is a small Ruhr town with a pleasant historic centre and one internationally significant cultural offering: the Moers Festival, held over Whitsun weekend each year, is one of Europe's most important festivals for improvised and experimental music. Outside festival season, the moated castle and its park, the Schlosstheater, and a walk along the Ruhr landscape make for a worthwhile half-day.
