Kaiserslautern has a main train station (Hauptbahnhof) with good connections: direct ICE and IC trains to Frankfurt (about 1 hour 15 minutes), Mannheim (30 minutes), and Saarbrücken (35 minutes). Regional trains run to Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, Pirmasens, and Kusel.
By car, the city sits at the intersection of the A6 (Mannheim–Saarbrücken) and A63 autobahns. Frankfurt is about 100km east. Ramstein Air Base — the US military hub — is 15km west and flies direct to major US bases. The nearest commercial airports are Frankfurt Airport and Saarbrücken Airport.
