Meissen is small enough to cover on foot in a day, but rewarding enough to stay longer — particularly if you are interested in medieval architecture, porcelain history, or Saxon wine. The hilltop with the castle and cathedral is the obvious centrepiece; the porcelain factory on the edge of town rounds out the picture.
