The Kupferkanne is set in a half-buried Wehrmacht command bunker on the heath behind the Rotes Kliff at Kampen — the artist Günter Rieck took the brutalist concrete shell over in 1949 and transformed it into something genuinely strange and very welcoming. The interior is low-ceilinged, lit by candles, and full of locally-made copper kettles (hence the name); the terrace outside has wide views across the heath and dunes to the sea.
The order is a pot of strong East Frisian tea with rock candy and cream, and a slab of one of the enormous cakes from the counter. It is touristy but completely justified, and the building alone is worth the walk up from the village.
