The Wandering Dunes of List are one of Sylt's defining natural landscapes, with wind-shaped sand masses that move slowly across the northern part of the island. Their scale and fragility make them more compelling than an ordinary beach walk.
Access is controlled to protect the dunes, so use marked paths and viewing areas. They are especially worthwhile for travellers interested in coastal ecology, photography, or the wilder side of a resort island.
