Gohre is Jena's city history museum, set in a historic building whose foundations go back to the 13th century. The exhibits cover local history from prehistory to the 19th century, spread across four levels.
One memorable display is a seven-headed "dragon" assembled from animal bones and papier-mache by students in the early 17th century, once counted among the Seven Wonders of Jena.
