Schiller's Garden House

Schiller's Garden House is the small retreat where Friedrich Schiller spent summers with his family while living in Jena. Several major works were written here in part, and the house now presents his Jena years in a quieter setting than the university buildings in town.

The appeal is partly literary and partly atmospheric. The garden house gives Schiller a human scale: study, rooms, and garden rather than monument, with enough context to make the stop worthwhile even if you only know the name.
