Aegina is compact and easily navigated. Buses run regularly from the main port to the island's villages and beaches, including Agia Marina and the Temple of Aphaia. Taxis are available at the harbour. Scooter and bicycle hire is the most flexible option and the best way to reach the quieter coves on the less-visited parts of the coast.
The harbour town itself is small enough to walk everywhere. Horse-drawn carriages operate on the harbour front, more of a novelty than a practical transport option but charming nonetheless. The island's main road forms a rough circuit; a scooter can cover the whole thing in a couple of hours.
