Batsi

Andros's most resort-like village, built around a sheltered bay

Batsi is the closest thing Andros has to a traditional resort village — a small cluster of whitewashed houses around a sheltered bay on the island's west coast, a few kilometres south of the ferry port at Gavrio. The bay is calm and sandy, suitable for swimming from April to October, and there are a handful of tavernas on the waterfront that stay open through the season.

It is not nearly as busy as resorts on Mykonos or Paros — families and older Greek visitors make up most of the summer crowd. Batsi is a reasonable base if you want a quieter, more local-feeling holiday than the famous Cycladic destinations offer. The village has a few rental scooters and bicycles for exploring the coast.
