Museum of the Macedonian Struggle

This museum documents the Greek guerrilla campaign of 1904–1908 — the Macedonian Struggle — fought against Bulgarian and Ottoman forces for control of the region. It is housed in a 19th-century mansion that belonged to Anastasios Pehion, a local teacher and resistance fighter, and the building itself is part of what makes the visit worthwhile.

The collection includes weapons, uniforms, photographs, proclamations, and personal effects from the period, displayed in the well-preserved original rooms of the mansion. The context provided is specifically Greek and specifically Macedonian, which makes this a useful counterpoint to how the same period is understood in Bulgaria and North Macedonia. Allow 45 minutes.

Located in the same neighbourhood as the Folklore Museum, making it easy to combine both visits.
