The heart of Kastoria's appeal is walking the peninsula — from the Byzantine churches clustered in the old town, past the lakeside mansions of the fur merchants, out to the monastery at the eastern tip. Add an afternoon in the museums and a sunset over the lake, and you have a very satisfying visit.
