Getting There

The quickest way to reach Milos from Athens is by air. Olympic Air and Sky Express both operate flights from Athens International Airport to Milos Airport, with the crossing taking around 45 minutes. Flights run daily in summer, less frequently off-season; book well in advance for July and August travel.

The ferry from Piraeus is the traditional approach and still the most common. Standard ferries (Seajets, Hellenic Seaways, and others depending on the season) take between five and seven hours depending on the route and intermediate stops. A high-speed catamaran service covers the distance in around three and a half hours. Ferries arrive at Adamas, the island's main port, where accommodation transfers and car hire are well organised. Milos is also connected by inter-island ferry to other Cyclades, including Santorini, Folegandros, Sifnos, and Serifos, making it straightforward to include in a broader island-hopping itinerary. The crossing from Santorini takes roughly three to four hours depending on the service.
