Restaurant Praxitelous

One of the better tavernas on the village's main street, Praxitelous has been feeding archaeologists, tour groups, and independent travellers for decades. The menu is straightforward Greek — roast lamb, grilled pork chops, moussaka, horiatiki salad — and the kitchen does it competently at prices that are fair for a tourist town. Sit on the shaded terrace if you can; the interior is dark and tends to fill with coach parties at midday.

Come early for lunch (before noon) or late (after 14:00) to avoid the crush. The house wine, a simple retsina, is perfectly drinkable and very cheap. The lamb dishes are the kitchen's strongest suit.
