Getting Around

The island bus system connects Parikia to Naoussa in the north and Alyki and Golden Beach in the south. Services run frequently in summer but thin out considerably off-season. For anything beyond the main routes, you need your own transport.

Scooter and ATV hire is widely available in Parikia and Naoussa. A scooter opens up the island substantially — the road network is good, distances are short (end to end is about twenty kilometres), and the interior villages are not served by bus. Driving is on the right; traffic on the main Parikia–Naoussa road can be heavy in July and August.

Taxis are available from the main stand in Parikia. Boats run between Parikia harbour and Naoussa in summer, and small water taxis serve the beaches near Naoussa (including Kolymbithres). Cycling is possible but the hills are steep; most rental bikes are electric.
