Ancient Dimini is a compact but important archaeological site outside Volos, known for its Neolithic settlement and later Mycenaean remains. It is not as visually dramatic as Greece's big-name ruins, but it pushes the story much further back, into the villages and fortified settlements that came before the classical world.
The site works best for travellers who like archaeology in context. Walk the surviving walls and house traces, then connect them with the finds in the Archaeological Museum of Volos; together they make Thessaly's deep prehistory much easier to grasp.
