Skopos is the rounded hill rising behind the southeast coast of Zakynthos, a useful counterweight to the busy resort strip below. The lower slopes are crossed by rough tracks and scrubby paths, with views over Argassi, Zakynthos Town, and the long curve of Laganas Bay.
The hill is best tackled early in the morning or late in the day; summer heat makes the exposed tracks hard work. Bring water and expect uneven footing. Even if you do not climb far, the inland lanes give a quick glimpse of Zakynthos away from the beachfront businesses.
