Getting There

Debrecen has its own small international airport (DEB) about 6 km south of the city, with low-cost connections to several European cities — Wizz Air is the dominant carrier. Most travellers arrive by train from Budapest: the InterCity service runs roughly every two hours from Budapest-Keleti and takes around 2 hours 30 minutes. The train station sits at the southern end of Piac utca, fifteen minutes' walk from Kossuth tér.

Long-distance buses use the bus station next to the train station. Drivers will find that the M3 and M35 motorways link Debrecen to the rest of the country in around three hours from Budapest.
