Komárom is on the main Budapest–Vienna railway, with hourly fast trains from Budapest's Keleti station — the journey takes about 75 minutes. Trains from Vienna (via Hegyeshalom) take roughly two hours.
By road, the M1 motorway runs along the south bank of the Danube from Budapest to the Austrian border, with a clearly signposted exit for Komárom. The crossing into Slovakia (towards Bratislava) is over the Elisabeth Bridge to Komárno on the other side of the river — pedestrians, cyclists and cars all use it; controls are minimal as both countries are in Schengen.
