The Pécs TV Tower stands on the Misina peak of the Mecsek hills, about 535 metres above sea level and several hundred metres above the city below. The tower has an observation deck accessible to the public, offering a panoramic view south across the whole Pécs plain toward Croatia on a clear day — one of the widest views available from any viewpoint in southern Hungary.
To reach the tower, you can take the chairlift (libegő) from the outskirts of the city — one of the more entertaining ways to approach a television mast — or drive up via the Mecsek road. The forested Mecsek hills above Pécs are also good for hiking, and a network of marked trails fans out from the tower area. The contrast between the wooded hills and the spread-out city immediately below is one of the pleasures of Pécs that is easy to miss if you stay in the old town.
