The Third Theatre of Pécs is not the grand, ornate theatre on the postcard. It is a smaller, more contemporary venue, the sort of place where local theatre culture is easier to feel because the audience is close and the productions are less ceremonial.
For most travellers it is a conditional stop: check the programme before you go, and expect performances to be in Hungarian. If something interesting is on, it can be a good evening after the cathedral, Zsolnay Quarter, and the Ottoman monuments have had their share of the day.
