Things to Do

Most of Isafjordur's attractions are small-scale and rewarding: a heritage museum in an 18th-century timber building, walks along the harbour, and easy access to some of Iceland's wildest landscapes. The town is a base for kayaking, hiking into Hornstrandir, and ferries across the fjord. Don't expect headline sights — the appeal is the setting and the texture of a working fishing town at the edge of the inhabitable world.
