St Enda's Monastery is part of the older, quieter layer of Inis Mór, away from the big drama of Dún Aonghasa. Enda founded his settlement at Cill Éinne in the early Christian period, and the village name still preserves his presence. The surviving church remains and graveyard are modest, but they sit at the root of Aran's reputation as a place of saints and scholars.
This is a stop for travellers who like ruins with context rather than spectacle. Pair it with the island's other early churches and the landscape starts to make sense: small stone buildings, wind-cut fields, and a religious history that was shaped by isolation as much as by devotion.
