Joe Watty's Bar

Joe Watty's is the liveliest pub in Kilronan and the most reliable place for traditional music on a summer evening. It is a proper Irish country pub — low ceilings, no design interventions, a bar that has been in the same place for decades. Musicians turn up without announcement, usually later in the evening; if you are there from around 9 pm onwards in July or August there is a good chance something will happen. The Guinness is well kept.

Food is available and is filling rather than ambitious — chowder, sandwiches, the kind of thing that works after a day on a bike. The pub is a short walk from the ferry pier, which makes it easy to find and easy to get back from when you need to catch the last boat.
