Clonmel Racecourse

Powerstown Park, the home of Clonmel Racecourse, sits on the edge of town and stages both National Hunt and flat racing throughout the year. It is a proper rural Irish track — not a prestige venue, but a lively one, with a genuine racecourse atmosphere that is hard to find at the bigger, more corporate courses.

The November fixture is the biggest meeting of the year, drawing good crowds and a strong card. Race days here are social occasions as much as sporting events, and the enclosures fill with locals in a way that the larger tracks no longer quite manage. If you are in Clonmel on a race day, it is worth going.
