Eating Out

Dingle eats well above its size. The harbour brings in fresh fish most mornings and the kitchens have learned to cook it simply and well. The two best-known seafood places — Out of the Blue on the pier and the dining room at The Boatyard — sit at opposite ends of the formality scale and both turn out properly good food.

For something quicker, John Benny's and a handful of other pubs do reliable chowder and pints. Idás on Dykegate Street is the closest the town has to fine dining: ten-table tasting menu, foraged ingredients, booked months ahead in summer. The local Dingle Bay Hotel carvery and the chippers on Main Street cover the budget end. Avoid the few visibly tourist-bait places on the main quay in high season; the better food is always one street back.
