The George

Dublin's oldest LGBTQ+ bar, open since 1985, with drag nights and a welcoming atmosphere

Address 89 South Great George's Street, Dublin 2

The George is Dublin's oldest and most famous LGBTQ+ bar, operating since 1985 on South Great George's Street. A Dublin institution, it has played a central role in LGBTQ+ life in the city through significant social and political changes, including the campaigns for decriminalisation and marriage equality.

The bar runs well-regarded drag nights and a popular Sunday bingo, and the atmosphere is welcoming to all. It remains one of the few purpose-built queer venues in the city centre. The street itself has some of Dublin's best independent cafés and bars.
