Government Buildings

Edwardian baroque Taoiseach's offices, open for free Saturday tours

Address Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2

Government Buildings is the Edwardian baroque complex on Upper Merrion Street that houses the offices of the Taoiseach (Prime Minister), the Cabinet room, and other government departments. It was the last major building constructed in Dublin under British rule, completed in 1922, and was immediately inherited by the new Irish government.

Free guided tours are available on Saturdays, offering access to the principal state rooms — including the Cabinet room and the Taoiseach's office — and a collection of important Irish art and decorative items. Tickets are collected from the National Gallery across the street.
