The Church of Saint Multose is the oldest standing structure in Kinsale — the Norman tower dates to around 1190 and the nave was added in the 13th century. The church is still in use as a Church of Ireland parish church, which means it retains the lived-in quality of a working building rather than a museum. The interior has been modified over centuries but still contains medieval stonework, a 17th-century font, and a collection of grave slabs and memorials that document Kinsale's history with unusual directness.
The churchyard has several notable graves, including those of some of the victims of the RMS Lusitania sinking in 1915 — the ship went down 18 kilometres off the Old Head of Kinsale and many of the dead were brought ashore here. The church is usually open during daylight hours and entry is free.
