Kinsale's pleasures are a combination of the historical and the maritime. Charles Fort and Desmond Castle are both genuine national monuments of significance. The town's streets are interesting to walk — the buildings are well-preserved Georgian and Victorian, and the harbour is working as well as scenic. Several coastal walks extend from town, and the water supports sailing, sea kayaking, whale watching, and fishing.
