The Limerick City Gallery of Art occupies the carriage house of the Carnegie Library on the south-eastern corner of the People's Park. The permanent collection — strongest on 20th-century Irish painters including Jack B. Yeats, Sean Keating, Norah McGuinness and Mainie Jellett — is shown in changing hangs alongside an ambitious programme of contemporary exhibitions. The Eva International, Ireland's biennial of contemporary art, runs across multiple Limerick venues every other year and uses the gallery as one of its anchors.
Admission is free. The building itself is small, and an hour is enough; combine with a walk through the People's Park and lunch on O'Connell Street.
