The Alpine Botanical Garden of Campo Imperatore is a small high-altitude garden devoted to the plants of the Gran Sasso area. It is most useful if you are curious about the flowers and tough alpine species that survive on the plateau and surrounding slopes.
It will not detain everyone, but it makes a good counterpoint to the big views. After seeing the vast empty plateau, the garden draws attention to the smaller life adapted to that exposed environment.
