The Concattedrale di San Giuseppe is the larger of Vasto's two main churches — a much-altered Romanesque-Gothic foundation with a 14th-century carved portal, a 19th-century rebuilding inside, and a wooden Christ said to date from the 13th century. The bell tower is squat and unfinished, the result of an old earthquake that levelled the upper storey.
It is on Piazza Pudente, ten paces from Palazzo d'Avalos. Combine the two in a single morning loop with Santa Maria Maggiore just downhill.
