Things to Do

Vasto splits between two distinct halves: the historic hill town on a 144-metre bluff above the Adriatic, and Vasto Marina along the beach below. The hill town has the best of the architecture — a 15th-century castle, a cathedral, a fortified palace, and a couple of pretty squares — while the marina has the beach, the seafood restaurants, and the summer crowds.

A morning is enough for the centro storico. Spend the afternoon at the beach, then come back up the hill for an evening passeggiata along the Loggia Amblingh, which is one of the finest sunset spots in southern Abruzzo.
