Ischia's bar scene is relaxed — the island runs at spa-town pace even in high summer. The standout is Bar Calise (Via Antonio Sogliuzzo 69, near Ischia harbour), open since 1925. It's known as much for its pastries and ice cream as for its drinks — over 50 types of cake and an excellent selection of Neapolitan sweets. The tropical garden terrace is pleasant on warm evenings.
For a livelier evening, the harbour area of Ischia Porto has several bars with outdoor seating that stay open late. Forio has a cluster of bars near the Piazza Municipio.
