Getting Around Ischia

The island has a circular bus route (EAVBUS) that connects all six communes. A single ticket is cheap; full-day passes are available. Buses can be crowded in summer but are reliable. The journey from Ischia Porto to Forio takes about 30 minutes; to Sant'Angelo about 45 minutes.

Taxis are available from the port and main towns. Some are standard cars; others are the distinctive open-air micro-taxis (small three-wheeled vehicles with fringed canopies) that are more practical for the narrow streets.

Scooters are popular for getting around and can be rented from several outlets near the port. The roads are manageable by moped but tight in places — take care on the bends.

To reach Maronti Beach and other southern beaches, sea taxis run from Sant'Angelo during the summer season.
