Ischia grows excellent produce on its volcanic soil — the wine is surprisingly good, the vegetables are flavourful, and the rabbit dishes (coniglio all'ischitana, braised with white wine, tomatoes, and herbs) are considered a local speciality. Seafood is everywhere. Restaurants near the thermal parks and tourist beaches tend towards the expensive and average; seek out places in Forio, Sant'Angelo, or the back streets of Ischia Porto for better quality.
