The main Roman sites in Pozzuoli town — the Macellum, the Anfiteatro, and Rione Terra — are all within walking distance of each other and of the railway station. The outlying volcanic attractions require transport: the Solfatara is about 2 kilometres from the town centre (walkable or by taxi), while Lake Avernus, Monte Nuovo, and Cumae are 5–10 kilometres away and most easily reached by car, scooter rental, or by joining one of the day tours that run from Naples specifically around the Campi Flegrei. Local buses serve some of these destinations but routes are infrequent.
