Ravello is a year-round destination but has distinct seasons. Spring (April–May) and early autumn (September–October) are the most comfortable: the crowds are manageable, the temperatures pleasant, and the gardens at their best. July and August bring the Ravello Festival and large numbers of visitors; the town is busy but lively. Midsummer heat can make the walk up from Amalfi tiring in the middle of the day. Winter is quiet but mild — most restaurants and hotels stay open, and the views on clear days are exceptional.
The Ravello Festival runs from June to September, with the main concerts staged on the terrace of Villa Rufolo. The programme covers classical music, jazz, and dance; the garden stage with the Gulf of Salerno as backdrop is one of the most dramatic concert settings in Europe. Tickets sell in advance and it's worth booking early.
