Eating Out

Eating in Bellaria-Igea Marina means eating the Adriatic and the Romagna hinterland in equal measure. The seafront restaurants serve the catch of the day — grilled sole, sea bream, prawns, and the thick Adriatic fish stew known as brodetto di pesce, which each town along this coast considers its own. Away from the waterfront, the Romagna flatbread piadina is unavoidable and excellent: stuffed with squacquerone cheese and rocket, or with cured meats, it is the region's answer to fast food and one of its best contributions to Italian cuisine. Trattorias in town serve the fuller repertoire of Romagna cooking — handmade pasta like strozzapreti and tagliatelle, grilled meats, and local wines from Sangiovese vines in the hills behind the coast.
